Gina Amatangelo is a Distinguished Teaching Professor and Professor of Practice in Public Administration at the University of Texas at San Antonio. She also serves Associate Dean of the Honors College and is leading civil discourse efforts and strategic initiatives in that role. She brings 20 years of experience as a facilitator, strong community connections, and experience as a public policy practitioner to her work with UTSA students. Professor Amatangelo teaches courses on public policy research, public administration, managing public conflict and civic leadership.
Amatangelo has been recognized for leading exemplary community-engaged and career readiness projects. She has received UTSA’s Howe Undergraduate Teaching Award and Core Curriculum Teaching Award. She was a 2021 recipient of the University of Texas Board of Regents’ Outstanding Teaching Award.
Professor Amatangelo is committed to supporting a culture of teaching excellence and currently chairs UTSA’s Academy of Distinguished Teaching Scholars. She holds a Master of Public Affairs from UT Austin and a Bachelor of Arts in Media Studies from Penn State University.
