Teaching lets me have a real impact on people every day. That's a lot of job satisfaction, and a great way to live.
The goal is to equip students with the tools to learn, and if we want to be effective teachers, that means considering everything from self-image and study habits to critical thinking and communication to the technical practices of our discipline. The classroom needs to be a place where students come for interactive challenges; a safe place to try and fail, to learn to evaluate themselves and discover how that drives progress.
