The FY 2018 Holiday Schedule is posted and may be found at https://www.utsystem.edu/offices/human-resources/ut-system-administration-holiday-schedule.
The state legislature determines the number of holidays observed by all state agencies and institutions of higher education. The total number of holidays consists of various national and state holidays which fall on a weekday; holidays which fall on a weekend are not included. Institutions of higher education are granted flexibility to establish their own schedules. UT System Administration observes the same number of holidays observed by other state agencies though the schedules may differ.
Employees who are appointed to work at least 20 hours per week for a period of at least 4.5 continuous months are eligible for holiday leave. Eligible employees appointed less than full-time receive holiday and floating holiday leave proportionate to the number of hours appointed weekly.
A floating holiday (8 hours for full-time employees) is included in the FY 2018 holiday schedule and may be used at any time during the fiscal year with prior manager approval. Floating holiday hours should be used by August 31, 2018, but may be carried over to the next fiscal year if not used.
